Work Location: Corporate Headquarters – Pewaukee

Division: Fire Protection (Full Time, Exempt)

Under the direction of the Division Manager, the Fire Protection Designer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and evaluating design drawings. 

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience designing mechanical (HVAC/plumbing/fire protection/controls) systems, AutoCAD preferred
  • Licenses: Driver’s License
  • Certificates: NICET Level II (or higher) in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred)
  • Physical Job Requirements: Move throughout office, construction site, and general outdoor environments 

Key Activities

  1. Understand Project and Equipment. Review project specifications, proposal, addendums, and engineering drawings and effectively incorporate project equipment into the design.
  2. Design Project. Develop detailed design drawings, evaluate designs for code compliance, recommend design improvements, maintain design schedule, and attend job coordination meetings as requested.
  3. Project Documentation. Maintain all required documentation and provide permit information, and generate record drawings, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings in electronic format.
  4. Maintain CAD System. Maintain/update CAD system to ensure maximum efficiency/accuracy is achieved.
